
Barbados held on to the CWI Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 50-over championship on Wednesday, beating Jamaica by 116 runs in the final at Liberta Sports Club in Antigua and finishing the competition without a loss.
After slipping to 101 for four, the defending champions were steadied by Justin Parris, later named Player of the Match for a standout showing with bat and ball. Parris scored a century at a run a ball, including 12 boundaries and one six, and helped Barbados reach 320 for nine. Jamaica’s Alixandre Elliott took four wickets for 40 runs.
Parris then claimed five wickets for 35 runs with the ball, while Asher Branford took three for 19. Jamaica were bowled out for 204 in 43.5 overs. Demario Hall made 47 and Pajay Nelson 36.
The result gave Barbados a second Rising Stars Under-19 50-over title in a row and completed an unbeaten run through the tournament.
