Diamond Mile Returns at Caymanas Park as Right All Day Faces 12 Rivals

A field of 13 runners will go to post this Saturday for the sixth staging of the grade one Diamond Mile, a $10 million feature that has been restored to Jamaica's thoroughbred racing calendar at Caymanas Park.

Right All Day, last year's Mouttet Mile winner and the reigning Horse of the Year, tops the billing from gate 13. The four-year-old American-bred roan colt shattered a 29-year-old track record over eight and a half furlongs on April 6 and will be ridden by veteran jockey Ian "Dolly Baby" Spence.

Legacy Isle stands among the chief threats. The six-year-old bay, trained by Rohan Crichton, set a fresh seven-furlong track record roughly six weeks ago and breaks from post nine with two-time champion jockey "Reddish" Roman in the saddle.

Former Horse of the Year Fun and Done, who won the 2024 Mouttet Mile, has drawn gate five and will be partnered by Robert Halledeen. Another recent record breaker, Phenomenal Power, takes post seven with in-form apprentice Tajay "Cool".

The rest of the lineup comprises Curvano (Tevin Foster), Royal Puppy (Dane Dawkins), Over Revolution (Reyan Lewis), Barnaby (Errol Thomas), Blue Vinyl (Richie Shades), Sir Don (Philip Parchment), Pat Pleeze (Jahiem Anderson), Neo Star (Jordan Barrett), and Nautical Star (Omar Walker), a six-time former champion jockey.

The official post-position draw took place at Caymanas Park on Tuesday.

The Diamond Mile was introduced in 2015 and quickly revived interest in thoroughbred racing at the venue. It was contested annually from 2015 through 2019 before being replaced on the calendar by the Mouttet Mile in 2022. Organisers are bringing the race back alongside other major fixtures slated for 2026.
