Dry Saharan dust to keep Jamaica and Caribbean weather mostly settled
Dry conditions continued across the Caribbean on the evening of May 31, 2026, with a growing concentration of dust affecting the region, including Jamaica.
The dust was reported to be especially noticeable across southern sections of Jamaica. Forecasters expected the plume to remain within the Caribbean basin and help maintain generally dry weather over the next two to three days.
While much of the region stayed under dry air, cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms were present across northern areas of Cuba and parts of Hispaniola.
Weather conditions were expected to stay broadly similar in the short term, with dust and dryness remaining the main feature for Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
