Nephew held after Mark Cain, 56, fatally stabbed on Payne Avenue in domestic row
What began as a household argument turned fatal on Payne Avenue Tuesday night when a nephew allegedly stabbed his uncle during a domestic row.
The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Mark Cain. Police said Cain was attacked by his nephew around 10 p.m. and later died from his injuries.
Cain was taken to Kingston Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Neighbours told reporters the suspect lives with a mental condition and had repeatedly claimed his uncle tried to make sexual advances toward him.
"The youth have mental problem but him no mad. Is not a youth whe a walk round and trouble you. Him always clean and you can send him go anywhere and him do the right thing, " a woman said.
A senior officer with the St Andrew South Division said those claims had circulated locally, but no official report was ever filed.
"What I can say is that the suspect waited at the house until the police arrived and handed over the murder weapon. He is currently in our custody as we continue to investigate," the senior cop said.
One resident said Cain, a former security guard, settled in the community several years ago after being deported from Canada. He said the nephew and his uncle clashed often.

"The granny dead inna December and him stay there. I don't know, but although him head never did so good, him never give trouble," the man added.

"Him just keep on a say 'Mi tired a it now, mi stab him up'. When him a leave him ago call the police and him go back in the house and wait for dem. Honestly, mi sorry for him," she said.
