JPS Probes Nationwide Power Outage After 9:02 p.m. Disruption
Jamaica Public Service Company says it is trying to determine what caused a power failure that affected customers across Jamaica last night. President and CEO Hugh Grant said the disruption began at about 9:02 p.m.
In a video statement, Grant said there had been heavy lightning in the Corporate Area around that time, including near several major power plants, transmission sites and substations. He said electricity had been largely returned in some parishes, while crews were still working to restore supply elsewhere.
