FIFA Opens Probe Into Argentina After World Cup Final Scuffle With Spain

1 min read

World football’s governing body is said to be looking into Argentina after disorder that followed the closing whistle of the World Cup final, which Spain won 1-0. Once the contest was over, players from both sides clashed.

Reports indicate that any player or coach who took part in the disturbance at MetLife Stadium risks being barred from matches, and the Argentine Football Association could also face a financial penalty.

Accounts suggest Argentina’s Leandro Paredes seized Spain’s Eric García by the neck, after which several others joined in with shoves, trips and physical confrontation, among them Spanish midfielder Gavi.
