Syria highway crash leaves at least 35 dead after twin bus collision
A head-on smash involving two passenger coaches on a major road in central Syria has left at least 35 people dead and many more hurt.
The wreck happened on Saturday along the Damascus–Deir ez-Zor route, on the stretch linking Palmyra and Al-Sukhnah. That corridor runs more than 400 kilometres and is a vital link between eastern Syria and the capital.
The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said several helicopters had been dispatched to the scene to airlift the wounded to Homs Military Hospital.
