Ocho Rios crash kills St Mary woman; driver in police custody
Police are holding a man in connection with the death of 65-year-old Claudette Thorpe, who was hit by a reportedly speeding white Toyota Mark X in Ocho Rios early this morning.
Thorpe, who lived in Petersfield in Retreat, St. Mary, was walking along Main Street near Big Ben Supermarket about 5:55 a.m. when the vehicle struck her. Investigators say the car then crashed into a wall and a light pole.
