Jamaica-US third country national pact draws fire in Senate aviation debate

1 min read

Debate on the Civil Aviation Amendment Bill brought the Third Country National agreement between Jamaica and the United States to the centre of yesterday's Upper House sitting.

Opposition Senator Lambert Brown used his contribution to condemn the TCN framework, contending that it places overseas workers ahead of Jamaican citizens, including people still recovering from Hurricane Melissa.

Senate President Tom Tavares Finson halted Brown mid-speech by switching off his microphone, finding that the senator had breached the Standing Orders.
