Adidas signs Jamaica men’s national basketball as official kit and apparel partner
The Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA) has entered an apparel agreement with Adidas—the first sponsorship of its kind for Jamaican national basketball.
Business 2 Sports Group, a leading sports consultancy, negotiated the arrangement. JaBA described the move as a major step for the sport at home and across the Caribbean.
Under the deal, Adidas will supply official kits and apparel for the Jamaica Men’s National Basketball Team. For the first time, replica national team gear will be sold to supporters around the world, reflecting wider interest in the programme.
“This is a proud day for Jamaican basketball and for our nation,” said Paulton Gordon, President of the Jamaica Basketball Association. “Partnering with a global powerhouse like adidas affirms what we have always believed, that Jamaican basketball belongs on the world stage. We are grateful to adidas for believing in our programme.”
Adidas has already backed the national setup ahead of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers, providing clothing and equipment as the squad prepares for one of its biggest runs to date.
“This partnership is rooted in shared heritage and cultural connection. Jamaica has always been an important part of our global football story, and through our longstanding relationship with the Marley family, this felt like a natural extension of that legacy into basketball,” said Cam Mason, Head of adidas Sports Marketing Basketball.
The agreement also builds on Adidas’s long-standing work with the Bob & Rita Marley Foundation. Cedella Marley—CEO of the Bob Marley Group of Companies, Grammy-winning singer, author, designer, and daughter of Bob Marley—works alongside her son, Saiyan Marley-Minto, to push basketball forward in Jamaica.
The Foundation is title sponsor of the national team’s FIBA World Cup qualifying push and Cedella serves as JaBA’s official ambassador. Its work has ranged from court upgrades and gear to youth programmes, using international contacts to lift the sport’s visibility abroad.
Together with JaBA, the Foundation has organised school outreach, donated equipment, and brought top overseas players to engage young talent across the island.
