The St Catherine North police division is in mourning after Constable Shanki Gordon died in a motorcycle crash in Ewarton, St Catherine, early Monday.
Gordon, who served with the St Catherine North Operational Team, was travelling on his motorcycle about 2:00 a.m. on June 1, 2026, when he became involved in a collision, according to reports. He received serious injuries and was taken to Linstead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 2:38 a.m.
His death has deeply shaken fellow police personnel. Senior Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson remembered Gordon as a brave, industrious officer who was prepared to do more than was required.
“He was a very energetic individual who would go beyond the call of duty and get the job done. He was also a jovial person who could create laughter on any subject. Trust me he is sadly missed,” Nicholson said.
Other colleagues also paid emotional tribute to Gordon, recalling him as a committed policeman and lively member of the team whose personality made an impact across the division.
Police are continuing investigations into the fatal crash.
