Authorities across Jamaica have laid or advanced serious criminal charges in five separate matters spanning St Elizabeth, Clarendon, St Catherine, St James and St Mary.

In St Elizabeth, a 29-year-old construction worker from the Burn Savannah district faces five counts linked to alleged sexual abuse of his 15-year-old stepdaughter. Police say the girl, a student in the parish, lived with her mother, siblings and the accused between 24 December 2025 and 7 June 2026. Investigators allege he engaged in sexual activity with the minor on multiple occasions while knowing she was under 16. During one incident, he reportedly recorded the act on his phone and sent the video to the victim's device. The footage was later seen and retrieved by police. Following a targeted operation at his home, he was arrested, interviewed and charged with sexual intercourse with a person under 16, sexual touching of a child, possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.

A 15-year-old student at BB Coke High School has been charged with robbery with aggravation and assault occasioning bodily harm over an alleged attack on a fellow student in a school bathroom on 26 May 2026 at about 11 a.m. A 13-year-old complainant told investigators she was approached by the accused and two masked females. Police allege the accused struck the girl in the face three times, stomped on her stomach causing bruising and swelling, then held a knife to her neck and took $450 from her pocket.

Pastor Shan Green, 57, appeared before Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson Gail in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday on charges of further conversion and non-delivery of service. He is accused of collecting more than US$12,132 from a complainant between January and November 2025 to purchase a 2010 Isuzu motor truck but failing to deliver the vehicle or return the money. Through attorney Kamoy Donaldson, Green told the court he intends to repay the complainant in full. The defence said the funds were used to procure the truck from Japan and not for personal purposes, but the judge said he must provide documentary evidence to support that claim or proceed to trial. Restitution is to be made before his next appearance on 15 September. His bail was extended. The matter was reported to the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch, which led to his arrest and charging after questioning by detectives.

St Elizabeth businessman Shaun Walker, 34, of the Crawford district, was granted $2 million bail in the St James Parish Court on Tuesday despite objections from prosecutors and police. Walker was arrested at Sangster International Airport in St James on 7 June shortly after returning from New Jersey. The Financial Investigations Division said Jamaica Customs Agency personnel became suspicious during routine checks and a manual search of his luggage allegedly uncovered 28 sealed boxes of Irish Spring bath soap containing US$270,580. Prosecutors say Walker could not provide satisfactory proof that the money was lawfully obtained and that United States authorities are also investigating him. Further charges in Jamaica may follow a forensic examination of his cell phone. He was placed under a port stop order, ordered to surrender his travel documents and to report to Black River police on Mondays and Thursdays. His attorney, Donovan Collins, said the bail ruling was correct in law. Walker is due back in court on 1 July.

In St Mary, 23-year-old Nakim Clark, also known as Nako of Cromwell Land, has been charged after police say he brandished a firearm and threatened a woman on 11 June. Investigators say Clark became involved in a dispute between a woman and the father of her children, during which the woman allegedly threw stones at him. Police allege he then pointed the gun at her. He faces charges including possession of a prohibited weapon, assault at common law and using a firearm to commit a felony. His court date is being finalised.
