AliExpress Hit With US$640 Million Penalty From European Commission Over DSA Failures

1 min read

Regulators in Brussels have imposed a fine of roughly US$640 million on the e-commerce platform AliExpress after finding it fell short of its duties under the Digital Services Act.

According to the European Commission, the marketplace did not adequately manage dangers associated with unlawful, hazardous and fake merchandise available through its service.

The company must deliver a remedial proposal by October 20, 2026. If it does not meet that obligation, further monetary sanctions may follow.
