Massimiliano Allegri Named Napoli Head Coach on Deal Through June 2029

Napoli have placed their trust in a veteran tactician, appointing Massimiliano Allegri as head coach on a contract that runs until June 2029. He replaces Antonio Conte, who departed at the end of May after two seasons at the club, a period that brought a Serie A championship in 2024–25 and a second-place league finish the following year.

The role marks a homecoming of sorts for Allegri, who made a short playing appearance for Napoli during the 1997–98 campaign. The club held back from sealing the move until he had completed his exit from AC Milan, where he had been employed immediately before the appointment.

Allegri arrives with a lengthy record of success in Italian football. He guided Milan to the Serie A title in 2011 and led Juventus through a dominant stretch that yielded five league crowns, several domestic cup wins, and two Champions League final appearances. He later went back to Juventus and collected another Coppa Italia in 2024, shortly before his most recent spell with Milan.
