
ST MARY, Jamaica – Officers in St Mary are looking into the death of a man recovered from a dwelling destroyed by fire in Huddersfield on Monday.
The victim has been named as Anthony Nelson, a 34-year-old unemployed man who lived at a Huddersfield address.
According to police, at about 4 a.m. people in the community noticed smoke rising from the property and contacted the Jamaica Fire Brigade. Neighbours attempted to get inside and put out the flames before first responders reached the scene, but could not contain the fire. Fire crews subsequently brought the blaze under control.
Nelson was located among the wreckage of the house and had suffered extensive burns. Personnel from the Area Two technical services division examined the site. His body was taken away for a post-mortem examination to establish how he died.
