450's World On Fire Passes 1 Million Views as Week Day Talks Global Dancehall Reach

Dancehall artiste 450 is building fresh international buzz with his latest release, “World On Fire”, after the track pulled in more than one million views only days after arriving.
The song has also been moving strongly across the Caribbean. It went to number one on Bermuda’s iTunes chart, reached number two in Trinidad, and opened at number five in Jamaica. Before the first week was out, “World On Fire” had passed one million streams and entered TikTok’s Top 20 trending sounds.
With the record drawing attention, producer and longtime collaborator Week Day spoke about how the song was shaped, while also pointing to 450’s development as an artiste and the changes in his sound.
“Wanted listeners to know that they’re not alone there are others out there that can relate to the pain they’re feeling, or relate to a situation they might be in,” Week Day said, explaining the thinking behind the release.
He said songs now need to travel beyond one market, and that the feeling inside the music is what helps make that possible. “Global appeal is very important. You want to make music that everyone can relate to. You want people to be able to connect no matter their country, race, ethnicity.. you just want the music to connect once they hear it,” he explained.
Week Day said the quick million-plus response shows that fans are responding to dancehall with a more emotional and thoughtful edge.
“The streams have passed 1 million in less than a week so I definitely think they’re gravitating towards reflective music. I think everybody is going through something in life right now and some people are afraid to show it or say it and reflective music helps them, it’s like an escape,” he added. “Some people will repost lyrics to a song that describe exactly what they’re going through instead of just saying what they’re going through.”
“Life has taught mi a lot about the psychology of people, and I felt disappointed to learn it’s not what I thought it was,” 450 said.
The release comes as 450 prepares for several overseas appearances. His upcoming schedule includes 450 Live NYC on May 23, Best of the Best Music Fest in Miami on May 24, and Sunsplash Festival in the Netherlands on July 5, as he keeps widening his audience outside Jamaica.
