An explosion at the Guardsman corporate office on South Camp Road in St Andrew has left at least four employees with severe burn injuries, prompting plans for them to be airlifted overseas for medical treatment.
The explosion occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the security company’s headquarters. Preliminary information indicates that welding was being carried out on one of Guardsman’s armoured vehicles when the blast happened.
All four injured workers are reportedly men.
The incident caused significant damage to several vehicles on the compound. Reports indicate that three vehicles were extensively damaged, while another sustained minor damage during the incident.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene following the blast as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the explosion continue.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the company were unsuccessful, as representatives declined to comment on the matter.
