Jamaica to launch $500m care fund for community health projects

Jamaica is preparing to introduce a $500 million Care Fund to support community projects linked to national strategies for preventing non-communicable diseases over the next two years.

The initiative was presented as a community-led response effort aimed at improving health-seeking behaviour, strengthening family support and assisting vulnerable people, including persons with disabilities and the elderly.

The fund is to be administered by the ministry's enabling environment in health and client services division. It is expected to work with community-based organisations, faith-based groups and civil society bodies on prevention measures across the life stages.

A call for proposals is scheduled to be issued on June 15, 2026.
