Lady Crocs open tri-nation rugby series ahead of CAC Games medal push

Jamaica's national senior women's rugby team, the Lady Crocs, have started a tri-nation preparation block in Trinidad and Tobago as they target what would be their first medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, still a little more than two months away.

The squad is made up largely of players from Jamaica's sevens programme. The group left the island on Wednesday and opened a two-day training camp in the twin-island republic before competitive play in the Rugby Americas North tri-nations 15-a-side tournament.

On the first camp day, coaches split the schedule into morning and afternoon blocks. The morning work centred on activation, movement and bringing the party back together after travel. The afternoon session focused on structured systems, tactical clarity and scenario-based drills that mirror match conditions.

The Lady Crocs meet Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday in the opening fixture of the tri-nations 15s event. They are due to depart Trinidad on Sunday for Mexico, where they will face the Mexican national women's side in the next leg of the series.

Officials describe the tour as a warm-up window ahead of the CAC Games. The tri-nation programme was supported by the Ministry of Sport, the Jamaica Olympic Association, Jamaica's High Commission to Trinidad and Tobago, and the Embassy of Mexico in Jamaica.
