Regional carrier Liat Air is making moves to be a true Caribbean air carrier and better connect its people.
On Tuesday, July 14th, the inaugural flight from Guadeloupe to Jamaica arrived at Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport.
This will now form a better connection between the French Caribbean and Jamaica. It will also spur greater inter- Caribbean tourism.
The aim is to put on twice-weekly flights between the French Caribbean island and the largest English-speaking Caribbean island with an airlift every Tuesday and Saturday.

Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism Ed Bartlett has repeatedly talked about the importance of “ multi-destination” holidays in the Caribbean, where tourists can experience the varying islands that make up the Caribbean.
For decades, it has been difficult for entrepreneurs, business executives, family members and people in general to travel quickly and affordably across the Caribbean. More often than not, it takes longer than getting to the UK, Canada and parts of the U.S. with stops in different islands in small, uncomfortable planes.
The lack of affordable and efficient inter-island connectivity has been a perennial problem, and this new flight between Guadeloupe and Jamaica goes some way to addressing that.
