Mavis Bank student, 14, faces simple larceny count after Sugar Lounge purse appears on CCTV
Police have laid a simple larceny charge against a 14-year-old student from Mavis Bank, St Andrew, after someone lifted a purse during April from Sugar Lounge Bar and Lawn, which the complainant operates in that community.
Accounts given to law enforcement put the time at roughly 18:00 on Thursday, 30 April, when the complainant was sitting inside the bar-and-lawn spot and the teenager came in and took a seat.
The complainant left for a quick trip to the toilet; on her return the purse could not be found inside her bag.
Reviewing the venue's surveillance recordings afterward purportedly reveals the minor clutching the stolen purse.
Missing valuables described in the file comprise the complainant's National Identification card, TRN, NIS card, and $5,000.
He was taken into custody on Saturday, formally cautioned while his mother looked on, and subsequently served with the simple larceny charge.
