A 36-year-old man was killed and three other people wounded during a shooting incident in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Barton Stewart, a self-employed resident of Corletts Road. The three injured victims, including a woman, range in age from 21 to 28 years old.
According to police reports, the attack occurred about 10:30 p.m. when Stewart was reportedly standing at his gate speaking with another man. Investigators say armed assailants approached and opened fire, hitting both men.
During the gunfire, a woman who was inside her home was reportedly struck by a bullet in her thigh while in her bathroom.
A third male victim was also injured after he was allegedly pursued along the roadway by one of the attackers and shot.
All four victims were transported to the Spanish Town Hospital for treatment. Stewart was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the other three victims were admitted for medical care.
Police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
The Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch is continuing investigations into the incident.
