Opposition Leaves Parliament Over Delayed FLA Integrity Commission Report

Opposition parliamentarians left yesterday's sitting after a dispute over why an Integrity Commission report dealing with the Firearm Licensing Authority has not been brought before the House.
The Opposition said the document should be released because the public has a right to know what it contains. The Government, however, said tabling it at this stage could interfere with legal matters now before the court.
Opposition Leader Mark Golding dismissed that position and continued to press for the report to be presented.
Leader of Government Business Floyd Green responded that Parliament can determine whether reports connected to active court issues should be laid in the House. He also denied suggestions that the Government was trying to hide the report or weaken the process.
Golding later accused Green of misleading the House and again called for the report to be tabled. After the request was denied, Opposition members walked out, then addressed the issue at a press briefing.
