The People’s National Party mourns the passing of Dean Alexander Peart, former Member of Parliament for North West Manchester, Councillor, Mayor of Mandeville and former Cabinet Minister.
Dean Peart was a proud son of Manchester and of the PNP. He carried forward the legacy of his father, the Hon. Ernest Peart, and served alongside his brother, former Speaker of the House Michael Peart, in one of Jamaica’s great political families.
Dean Peart won the North West Manchester seat five consecutive times, serving his constituents for 22 years with unmatched dedication. He built 13 community centres and numerous basic schools across the constituency, championing education for young people.
In Government, he served as Minister of State or Minister with responsibility for several portfolios, including Local Government, Environment and Lands, and Works. He also served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Sports.

Known for integrity, hard work and candour, Deanie was loved by the people he served and respected across the political divide.
The Party extends deepest condolences to his wife, Vynette, his children, the entire Peart family, and the people of North West Manchester.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
