Prep athletes post fast times at Junior Sprint Fest at Jamaica College
Primary and preparatory athletes from schools and track clubs across Jamaica raced in timed finals on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the OnDiRun Junior Sprint Fest Prep Edition, held on the Jamaica College campus.
Competition ran through the 50 metres, 60 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres for multiple age classes, with overall placings decided by the fastest times across all sections.
In the Class 3 girls 50m, Desiree James of MAG Track Club was announced as the fastest finisher in 8.05 seconds, with Kesia Bennett of Immaculate Preparatory School second in 8.06. Among the boys over the same distance, Justin Silts of Stella Maris Preparatory School and Ronaldo Cornwell both clocked 7.78 seconds to lead the field, with Kajene Richards of Wilmer's Prep third in 7.99.
Class 2 girls over 60m saw Unique Speed of St. Andrew Preparatory School win her section in 9.18, while Sansura Roberts of MAG Track Club posted 8.16 in another heat. Class 2 boys 60m highlights included Joshua Paige of Our Lady of the Angels winning a section in 8.96 and Shaim Brown of Vase taking another in 8.62.
On the Class 1 girls 100m, Paris White of Stella Maris Prep led all sections in 13.23, ahead of Tiara Blake of Rhymes Track Club in 13.38 and Adriana Bailey of MAG Track Club in 13.46. Class 1 boys produced the day's most striking mark when unattached runner Deario Finnegan stopped the clock at 11.94 in his section. Rashan Mullings of Falcons Athletics was next among ranked finishers at 12.43, with Liam Watson of Falcons third overall at 12.52.
Younger Class 3 sprinters also posted strong 100m times. Leila Watts of Stella Maris Prep topped the girls in 14.99, while Justin Silts led the boys in 14.58. Caleb Stevens of Stella Maris was second among the boys in 14.60.
Closing the programme, Class 1 athletes contested the 200m. Tiara Blake of Rhymes Track Club recorded 27.31 to head the girls, with Adriana Bailey of MAG Track Club second in 27.67 and Melia Crawford of Wilmer's Prep third in 28.02. Among the boys, Devon Dixon of Lammans Prep won his section in 27.04, while Andrew Warren of Falcons Athletics posted 26.01 in another heat. Zion Reed of Our Lady of the Angels closed the meet's track action with 27.50 in the final boys 200m section.
Organisers used electronic timing and sectioned heats throughout the day, with coaches reminded to monitor call-room schedules ahead of each event.
