Cristiano Ronaldo is preparing to make history after being named in Portugal national football team squad for this summer’s World Cup, which would make him the first man to play in six tournaments.

At 41, the veteran forward continues to add to a legendary international career that already includes the men’s records for most appearances and goals. Ronaldo now joins longtime rival Lionel Messi among the select group of players to reach six World Cups.

Currently playing for Al-Nassr, Ronaldo is cleared to feature in all of Portugal’s group stage matches after avoiding suspension following a red card late in qualifying.

The squad also includes Bruno Fernandes and several stars from Paris Saint-Germain, including Vitinha, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Gonçalo Ramos.

Portugal opens its campaign against DR Congo national football team in Houston before later facing Uzbekistan national football team and Colombia national football team.
