Yaksta drops sophomore album The Microphone Saved Me
Reggae recording artiste Yaksta releases what he describes as “the most complete and compelling body of work” of his career with his sophomore album, The Microphone Saved Me, arriving Monday, June 15, across all major streaming and digital platforms.
Spanning 15 tracks, The Microphone Saved Me explores themes of revolution, evolution, gratitude, love, and self-awareness - but through a lens uniquely his own. The project reflects Yaksta’s embrace of Rastafari unity among the different houses, while showcasing his lyrical versatility, fearless storytelling, and even moments of light-hearted energy as he moves seamlessly between cultural commentary, spiritual fire, and deeply personal reflections.
The album release is being driven by the growing buzz surrounding recent singles “Roar,” which has amassed more than 1.2 million views to date, and “The Return,” both of which sparked positive reactions from fans and industry figures alike before later appearing on the project. while it also featured "Pon Di Island" which relased last year, produced by Grammy Awards winning artiste, Kabaka Pyramid.
Tracks such as “Through It All,” “Jah Live,” “Sabbatical,” and “Order” reflect Yaksta’s deep spiritual and conscious message throughout the project.
Yaksta also collaborates with several artistes and producers across the album, including Silk Boss on “For Sale,” while teaming up with 2x Grammy-nominated producer Dre Tegs on “Thankful” and “Into You.” Additional highlights include “Splinters,” produced by Troyton Music, and “Pressure” with producer Lone Don.
Track after track delivers intensity, consciousness, and substance. Yet beyond the energy lies a deeper testimony. The Microphone Saved Me stands as a story of transformation and survival - an expression of how music became both refuge and purpose for the artiste.
“Every song comes from a real place. This is more than music; it’s a call to remain conscious in a world full of distractions, to stand firm in truth when compromise is celebrated, and to remember that growth, accountability, and purpose are still revolutionary. That’s the mission, and that’s the message.”
