Waterford double murder among major crime and court developments
Detectives from the Major Investigation Division are investigating a Monday night attack in Waterford, St. Catherine, where four people were shot, two of them fatally. The dead were named as 26-year-old technician Antoine Reed, also called Junior Anong, and 26-year-old Sed Roach, also known as Sid, both of Falmouth East, Waterford. A 17-year-old student was among the two injured survivors.
Police reported that about 10:30 p.m., the victims were at Logwood Road and Das Road when a grey motor car arrived. A man reportedly got out, fired on the group with a handgun, then left in the vehicle, which was being driven by another man. Waterford councillor Dr. Fenley Douglas said the community had not recorded a violent incident in more than a year, with the previous case being a domestic-related stabbing.
In St. Ann, 22-year-old Jamar Jarrett and 25-year-old Tanger Malcolm, both of Discovery Bay, died after a two-vehicle crash on the Dunn’s River main road near Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios on Monday night. Police said a blue Suzuki Swift and a white Toyota Coaster bus collided about 8:30 p.m. Jarrett, who was driving the car, and two passengers were taken to hospital; he and Malcolm died, while another passenger remained in serious condition. The bus driver was also treated.
Assistant Commissioner O. Chambers said JamaicaEye cameras have strengthened policing in the St. Catherine North Division, especially in Spanish Town. He said operators have helped officers respond to unusual activity and track vehicle thefts, while major crime fell by 10 per cent between January 1 and May 30 compared with the same period in 2025.
United States prosecutors have identified 48-year-old Jamaican American Andre Colin Ler, also called Plug Drew, as the alleged head of a gun-trafficking network linked to more than 350 stolen firearms. Co-accused include Lorenza Harris Brown, Sanchez Turner, Danthony Varner and Albert Brown. Ler, who faces 25 counts, received US$10,000 bail with conditions including electronic monitoring and shipping restrictions.
In Kingston, relatives of 24-year-old Alexander Marsh, also called Chukabu, rejected the police account of his fatal shooting in Jonestown on Sunday night and mounted roadblocks in protest. Police said a submachine gun and three 9mm cartridges were recovered. Superintendent Brian Henry urged residents to stop blocking roads and allow INDECOM and internal police investigators to complete their probes.
The FBI has also placed Jamaican American Ela Andre Esco, 41, on its new most-wanted fraudsters list over an alleged US$34-million COVID-19 relief fraud scheme. Esco, also known as Annie and Annie Palmer, is wanted on wire fraud and money-laundering conspiracy charges.
