Ayetian Earns Billboard Caribbean Up and Comer Recognition
Billboard has selected emerging dancehall artiste Ayetian as its Caribbean Up and Comer of the Month.
An accompanying interview on the international music publication’s website explored his creative partnership with regular producer and collaborator Nvtzz. Ayetian also discussed the online popularity of his songs, his ambition to enter Billboard’s leading charts and his hopes of securing a Grammy.
The recognition arrived one week after he issued Jampak, a 16-track mixtape featuring several prominent guest artistes.
Known for Wah Yuh Deh Pon, Ayetian is balancing a packed summer schedule that includes Atlanta’s Rum Island Festival, Reggae Sumfest and the forthcoming Caribbean Music Awards. He has earned nominations in seven categories at this year’s ceremony.
The 21-year-old artiste, whose given name is Malik Legend Tercien, also appeared last week in Ebony Magazine’s Stamped series. The feature recognises Black musicians making notable contributions throughout the diaspora.
Dancehall acts Valiant and Armanii were also selected, alongside Afrobeats artiste Rema and Trinibad performer Coutain.
