Azziz Johnson and Celicia Young Claim Spinjam Singles Crowns at GC Foster
The Spinjam table tennis series continued with its second of seven fixtures wrapping up at the GC Foster College auditorium, where Azziz Johnson and Celicia Young secured the headline singles crowns. The events are meant to help players prepare as they chase places on the national squads for the regional championships ahead.
In the open men's final, contested as a best-of-seven, Johnson beat Brian Blake four matches to two. On the women's side, Young edged Brittany Murray three games to two.
The Jamaica Table Tennis Association has sanctioned the series. A third tournament is scheduled for next month as the buildup to the national championships continues.
Competition spanned 11 divisions, covering boys and girls from age seven through under-19, along with the open singles draws.
