Bahamas Repatriates 107 Haitians in Continued Immigration Enforcement Push

The Bahamas Department of Immigration says it has sent 107 Haitian nationals out of the country as part of continuing enforcement work meant to keep immigration rules in force across the archipelago.

In a statement, the department said the group comprised 22 women and five minors. Officials pointed to a range of breaches, including stays beyond permitted limits and offences linked to unlawful landings.

The returnees left through Lynden Pindling International Airport on a Bahamasair flight. The department said standard health and safety procedures were observed throughout the operation.

It added that Haitian immigration officials are expected to process the group on arrival, while the five minors are to be placed with child welfare services there.

Authorities also said 15 other foreign nationals were removed earlier in the same week. That figure included three Jamaicans, along with people from Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Romania, Cuba, Ecuador and Moldova.

The department framed the actions as part of wider efforts to uphold immigration law and urged the public to report suspected violations.
