Remains found in Bamboo bush suspected to be missing Steer Town resident

ST ANN, Jamaica — On Monday, remains that were heavily decomposed turned up in undergrowth at Bamboo in St Ann. Investigators and relatives link the find to Owen Hamilton, 66, nicknamed “OG”, who had been listed as missing for nine days.

A family member who went to the site said the condition of the body ruled out immediate visual identification, according to remarks given to Observer Online. Kin are waiting on forensic testing before the identity can be established as Hamilton’s.

A farmer is said to have stumbled on the remains while moving through the area Monday morning.

Hamilton lived in Steer Town, St Ann. He was last observed Saturday, July 4, when he took part in a grave-digging session in Bamboo. After he went missing, relatives put up a $500,000 reward for tips that would help locate him.

The police probe into how the body came to be there remains under way.
