Bank of Jamaica Records $8 Billion Net Loss Through Late April

The Bank of Jamaica has posted a net loss of eight billion dollars for the stretch from January through April 22 of this year.

According to the central bank, that shortfall sits against total assets of one point three five trillion dollars as at April 22, an uplift of roughly twelve point five per cent.

Liabilities also expanded over the window. Demand liabilities reached eight hundred and thirty-eight point seven billion dollars, up about twenty-five point five per cent. Other liabilities stood at four hundred and fifty-three point nine billion dollars, higher by around seven point seven per cent.

Capital and reserves edged up to fifty-six point nine billion dollars, from fifty-four point five billion dollars in April 2025.
