Barita secures approval to rename Cornerstone Trust and JN Fund Managers
Cornerstone Trust and Merchant Bank, along with JN Fund Managers, has been cleared by regulators to operate under the Barita brand as the financial group deepens its banking and asset management push.
The Bank of Jamaica and the Financial Services Commission have issued non-objections for the entities to be renamed Barita Merchant Bank and Barita Fund Managers, respectively.
The rebranding is tied to a broader overhaul at Barita Financial Group, which has moved into a licensed financial holding company structure. Barita says the merchant bank is being developed as Jamaica's first digital bank.
Dane Brodber, chief executive officer designate of Barita Financial Group, said the bank is concentrating on making services simpler, quicker and smoother for customers.
He also said the bank's non-performing loans were 1.2 per cent of gross loans at March 2026, compared with the industry average of 2.3 per cent.
