Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett says his ministry is pressing ahead with efforts to show that the industry has long delivered real value to Jamaica. Bartlett made the point yesterday in St. Mary at the formal opening of the upgraded Fontabelle-to-Geddes Town road, where he said tourism has supported the national economy for decades.
He said the sector also creates avenues for Jamaicans to build wealth. Bartlett pointed to Spruce Up, saying community projects under that programme are improving visitor access, while Local First is meant to ensure residents share in tourism’s benefits.
