Highway 2000 Cash Toll Increases Take Effect August 1

Drivers travelling on Highway 2000 will face higher cash toll charges from August 1, while existing T-Tag prices will continue through October 31.

TransJam Highways announced the revisions in a notice issued Friday, saying the additional revenue would support the standard of service expected by its customers.

At the Portmore toll plaza, the Class 1 cash charge will rise from $380 to $400. Class 2 motorists will pay $790 instead of $710, while the Class 3 fee will increase from $1,150 to $1,195.

Cash rates at the Spanish Town plaza will move from $285 to $290 for Class 1 vehicles, from $530 to $590 for Class 2, and from $850 to $880 for Class 3.

At Vineyards, Class 1 drivers will be charged $850, compared with $790 currently. The Class 2 price will increase from $1,200 to $1,350, while Class 3 users will pay $2,700, up from $2,400.

The May Pen plaza will charge $295 for Class 1 vehicles instead of $270. Class 2 tolls will rise from $430 to $480, and the Class 3 rate will move from $770 to $850.

At the Toll Gate Main Line, the Class 1 cash toll will increase from $480 to $530. The Class 2 charge will go from $720 to $800, while Class 3 vehicles will attract a $1,550 fee, compared with $1,400 at present.

New cash charges at the Toll Gate Ramp will be $270 for Class 1, $400 for Class 2 and $770 for Class 3. The respective current prices are $240, $360 and $700.

T-Tag customers will begin paying revised electronic rates on October 31.

At Portmore, the Class 1 T-Tag charge will increase from $370 to $380. Class 2 will move from $690 to $780, and Class 3 from $1,150 to $1,195.

Spanish Town's T-Tag prices will rise from $275 to $280 for Class 1, from $510 to $580 for Class 2, and from $850 to $880 for Class 3.

At Vineyards, electronic charges will move from $780 to $840 for Class 1 vehicles and from $1,180 to $1,340 for Class 2. The Class 3 T-Tag toll will increase from $2,400 to $2,700.

May Pen's Class 1 T-Tag price will change from $260 to $285. The Class 2 fee will rise from $410 to $470, while Class 3 will move from $770 to $850.

For the Toll Gate Main Line, T-Tag users will pay $520 instead of $470 for Class 1, $790 instead of $700 for Class 2, and $1,550 instead of $1,400 for Class 3.

At the Toll Gate Ramp, the electronic rate will increase from $230 to $260 for Class 1, from $350 to $390 for Class 2, and from $700 to $770 for Class 3.

Motorists are being urged to acquire a T-Tag to benefit from the lower toll charges.
