Vybz Kartel Marks God and Time Rollout at Jangas After Billboard Reggae Chart Debut
Dancehall heavyweight Vybz Kartel pulled together relatives, close confidants and music-business figures at Jangas on Tuesday, June 17, for the official unveiling and listening session of his latest studio set, God and Time.
The scaled-down gathering put the spotlight on a project that has already posted a solid commercial opening, debuting at number six on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
The name God and Time has drawn wide interest from supporters, not least because themes of faith and patience have featured prominently across the entertainer's life and professional arc.
While working the room and giving guests an early hear of tracks from the record, Kartel also spoke about what the title is meant to convey. In a discussion with The Zee, the deejay laid out his thinking behind the project's name.
With a top-ten Billboard reggae placement already secured, God and Time looks to be building early momentum — a sign that, for Kartel, the forces suggested in the title may be working in his favour.
