BOJ US dollar auction draws bids above US$78 million

The Bank of Jamaica says requests for United States dollars ran well ahead of the sum available in its latest foreign exchange operation.

On Thursday, the central bank invited applications to buy US$30 million under its B-FXITT standard intervention facility, with settlement set for Friday.

The BOJ reported 49 qualifying bids amounting to US$78.65 million, more than twice the funds offered. In the final allocation, 21 bids were filled and the full US$30 million was taken up.

The settlement rate for successful bids was $157.14 for US$1, the central bank said.
