Carey McLeod given two-year AIU ban over missed drug tests

1 min read

Carey McLeod, twice crowned Jamaica’s men’s long jump champion, has received a two-year suspension from the World Athletics Athletes Integrity Unit for a whereabouts breach, according to reports on Monday.

McLeod, who earned bronze at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in China, reportedly acknowledged the anti-doping rule breach and agreed to the penalty after recording three missed tests across a 12-month span. Athletes must be reachable for unannounced testing, and three such failures inside a year can bring severe punishment.

The missed tests were reported for June 30, 2025, August 9, 2025, and May 1, 2026. McLeod’s ban runs from May 28, 2026, through May 27, 2028.
