Caribbean Cement says output and deliveries rebound after April rains

Caribbean Cement Company Limited says the amount of cement available to the market has risen by more than 20 per cent in recent weeks, after heavy rain in April affected its operations.

Managing Director Jorge Martinez said the company has kept product moving to customers while putting steps in place to make supply more dependable and respond to strong demand.

In a media release on Wednesday, Martinez said CCCL lifted production by more than 50 per cent between April and May 2026. He said customer dispatches also climbed by over 23 per cent, helping the company record sales of about 110,757 metric tonnes.

That performance, he said, was above the previous record of 108,500 metric tonnes, which was set in March 2021 during the COVID-19 period.

Martinez said CCCL also used its Cemex network to bring in up to 23,852 metric tonnes of cement at the end of May to help satisfy local demand. More shipments are expected as the company works to strengthen supply and keep the market stable.

The company said it has begun several measures to improve its operations and service. These include increasing warehouse space across Jamaica, focusing on consistency in finished products, and bringing in equipment to lift production capacity.

CCCL said it also intends to work with the Incorporated Master Builders’ Association on a database for selected construction projects, which is expected to assist with planning and supply management.

The company said it is also improving how it communicates with customers so updates and support can be provided more quickly.

CCCL said it remains committed to Jamaica and to providing a steady, sustainable cement supply to support national development and growth.
