CB Foods’ Pork Store marks Teachers’ Day with smoked-meat packs for Jamaica House Basic School staff

KINGSTON, Jamaica — On Teachers’ Day, staff at Jamaica House Basic School were caught off guard when Pork Store & More by CB Foods ran a pop-up outreach aimed at thanking them for helping to steer Jamaica’s next generation.
The gathering highlighted how classroom work feeds the island’s pipeline of leaders, skilled workers and businesspeople. Staff walked away with Caribbean Passion smoked-meat packages that included corned pork chub, streaky bacon, chorizo and jerk chicken sausages, together with Pork Store & More gift vouchers.
In remarks attributed to the company, CB Foods framed the activity as a salute to the steady effort, steadiness and attentiveness teachers bring each school day, while supplying ready-to-use protein options that could trim prep time for instructors juggling heavy schedules.
Several teachers told the company they valued the unplanned support, calling it substantive and morale-boosting.
“It was a very generous and grand gesture, one that overwhelmed all of us,” Marsha-Lee Crawford, a K2 teacher at the school, was quoted as saying in a news release. “I have been a teacher here since January 2019, and this is the first initiative of this nature that I’ve experienced. We are usually gifted tokens from parents, but for Pork Store to treat us in this manner was truly special.”
Crawford also spoke about why she sees the profession as indispensable. “Teachers are very important to society because we make all other professions possible. As an early childhood educator, the experience has been a blessing as I help shape and mould young minds who will become tomorrow’s leaders,” she added.
Samantha Fisher, assistant brand manager at CB Foods, said the Teachers’ Day programme lined up with the firm’s wider aim to spotlight instructors for the heavy lift their jobs demand.
“Teachers are incredibly important to us. They play a critical role in shaping the future of Jamaica by building the foundation for our children’s growth and development. It’s not an easy job, and it’s one that deserves real recognition and appreciation. For us, it’s about finding simple but meaningful ways to give back to those who give so much every day,” Fisher said.
Fisher said Jamaica House Basic School was picked because CB Foods has worked with it for years on community projects—among them Labour Day work and product drops.
“It’s also located within the immediate community of our head office and Pork Store & More, making it a natural fit. We believe in supporting the communities in which we operate, and this school is an important part of that,” she noted.
Moiya Chin-Lyn, channel manager of retail experience at CB Foods, said the goal was to leave teachers feeling seen and respected.
“Through this Teachers’ Day initiative, we wanted to show genuine appreciation for the commitment, patience and passion teachers give daily; while recognising the lasting impact they have on children, families and communities. Presenting the teachers, principal and vice principals with Caribbean Passion products and Pork Store & More gift vouchers was a meaningful way to create a moment of encouragement and gratitude,” Chin-Lyn said.
She argued that the warm reception reinforced why neighbourhood-led programmes that tip their hat to educators still matter.
“The teachers were very appreciative and warmly received the gesture. Their response reflected genuine gratitude, not only for the gifts themselves, but for the thoughtfulness behind the initiative.”
The company cast the effort as one piece of a broader push by Pork Store & More by CB Foods to deepen links with nearby residents and to salute people whose day-in, day-out work leaves a long mark.
During the handover, principal Veronica Burnett accepted a gift from Moiya Chin-Lyn, channel manager of retail experience at CB Foods (left), while Alexandra McNamee, marketing coordinator at CB Foods, joined the exchange.
