Police have named him as Chanoy 'Box Head' Steven, who lived along Phoenix Road in the community.
According to reports, the shooting happened about 6:10 p.m. Steven was rushed to hospital, but he was later confirmed dead.
Investigators from the Maroon Town police are now carrying out a murder probe.
