Cholita introduces her sound with debut EP
Rising Jamaican sensation Cholita makes her official introduction with the release of her six-track debut EP, Broken Promises, on Friday, June 26 via Mixpak Records.
The project serves as an intimate introduction to the emerging singer, who deftly guides listeners through heartbreak, emotional highs and lows, broken promises, and the self-confidence found on the other side. Blending silky, ethereal vocals with a distinctive fusion of modern dancehall, R&B, and pop influences, Broken Promises showcases the versatility that has quickly set Cholita apart.
Leading the project is “Never Come Down,” a major collaboration with dancehall superstar Popcaan, marking another significant milestone in the singer's burgeoning career.
The EP also features her previous releases, including “Next Time,” which amassed more than 2.5 million YouTube views while earning radio rotation and placement on H&M's global playlist, “Without You” featuring Skillibeng, which has surpassed 4.7 million views, and “Deja Vu.”
Rounding out the project are the new tracks “Too Damn Hard,” co-produced by acclaimed producer Jonah Christian, whose credits include Tems, Snoh Aalegra, J Balvin, and Normani, and “No Second Chances,” which adds another deeply personal layer to the EP with its unapologetic message of moving on.
By bringing together collaborations with dancehall heavyweights Popcaan and Skillibeng while balancing vulnerable songwriting with polished production, Broken Promises highlights why Cholita has quickly captured the attention of both fans and the music industry.
With early support from Zip FM, BBC Radio 1, and Hot 97, alongside co-signs from Jamaican media and placements on major global playlists, Cholita continues to establish herself as one of Jamaica's most exciting emerging artists.
