Christian Addison took top honours at the opening Drift Rush Hour event, where more than 20 drifters competed last Sunday at Junction Points Plaza in St. Elizabeth for early championship points and podium finishes.

The 2020 season is scheduled to run across five meets, with the overall standings set to determine the country’s leading drifter. Competitors began the day with two practice runs each before moving into the elimination stages, where drivers had to prove enough control and skill to stay alive in the contest.

After the first knockout round, the field was reduced to eight. A second round then cut that group in half, with reigning drift king Cleve Cat-a-hype Addy among those missing the final four. Addy ended the day in fifth place.

That left Miles Addison, Sheldon Johnson, Christian Addison and Nicholas “Taz” Barnes to battle for the top spots. Christian Addison came through as winner with 298.5 points, narrowly ahead of Johnson, who placed second on 297.

Fifteen-year-old Miles Addison, Christian’s younger brother, finished third with 290 points, while Barnes closed out the top four on 278. The next meet on the calendar is scheduled for June in Falmouth.
