
Claudette Thorpe Killed in Ocho Rios Crash, Driver in Police Custody
Claudette Thorpe, a resident of Petersfield district in St. Mary, was killed this morning after a motor car struck her in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
Police reports indicate that about 6:10 a.m., the driver of a white Toyota Mark X lost control while travelling along the road. The vehicle moved wildly, went up onto the sidewalk where Thorpe was walking and hit her.
The car later crashed into a wooden utility pole before stopping. The driver got out and ran from the scene.
Thorpe was rushed to hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Relatives of the driver subsequently surrendered him to the police, and he has been arrested.
