A public administration and appropriations hearing on May 27, 2026, was told that Caribbean Airlines has recorded major losses on several routes added during its 2023 Eastern Caribbean expansion.

According to the transcript, the airline’s route performance review found that some of the new services have struggled financially. The discussion referenced Dominica and Guadeloupe among the routes examined, with Dominica linked to a figure of US$1.86 million.

The combined loss on the affected routes was put at US$18.84 million as of April 2026. The matter was raised in the context of the airline’s wider financial stability.

The same broadcast also included references to other public-sector updates, including weather information being provided to farmers through agricultural forecasts. That service was described as helping farmers decide when to plant seedlings and harvest crops based on expected weather conditions.

The bulletin further referred to Jamaica-related damage estimates following an October 2025 event, saying the World Bank and the IDB made calculations in November 2025. The transcript states that the damage estimate for Jamaica alone was nearly a figure that was not clearly captured.

In sports, the broadcast said World Athletics had outlined a qualification system aimed at ensuring the world’s leading athletes qualify for upcoming competition. The qualification window was given as November 3, 2025, to May 2, 2027, while most other events were listed as opening on August 23, 2026, and closing in 2027.

The football segment said the Concacaf Caribbean Cup draw in Miami placed Trinidad and Tobago clubs Defence Force FC and Club Sando FC in a group with other regional opponents, including Portmore United. The competition is scheduled to begin on August 4, 2026.
