Jay-Z Yankee Stadium show held up after gate rush

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has acknowledged a security failure at Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium performance on Sunday, after people without tickets were reported to have surged toward the stadium entrances.

Staff shut the gates in response, stranding thousands of paying fans outside and pushing the start of the concert back by more than three hours. Jay-Z did not appear until about 12:30 a.m. Monday.

According to Mayor Mamdani, authorities are looking into what happened. He said many attendees were badly affected by the lengthy wait.
