Coopers Pen are the new champions of the Trelawny FA Major League after removing defending champions Duansville from the throne in the recent final at Trelawny Stadium.

Shanovan McKenzie led the charge for Coopers Pen with a hat-trick, but it was Raheem Miller who first put them in front, scoring in the 10th minute. McKenzie then doubled the advantage in the 30th minute, giving Coopers Pen firm control of the contest.

Duansville found a way back just before half-time when Andre Coleman scored in the 44th minute to reduce the gap. Any momentum from that goal was short-lived, as McKenzie struck again in the 45th minute before completing his treble in the 51st to push the match beyond Duansville’s reach.

The victory sparked strong scenes of celebration among Coopers Pen supporters, with community members of all ages turning out for the occasion. One speaker said the turnout showed how deeply the area cares about football and how long residents had been waiting for such a moment.

Coopers Pen received $225,000 for winning the competition, while Duansville collected $150,000 as runners-up.

Trelawny FA president Desmond Simpson said the season had its challenges, but the organisers were able to work through the issues. He described the campaign as successful and expressed hope that the winners would represent the parish well.
