Sophie Ecclestone sets England wickets record in opening day of women's Lord's Test

1 min read

England bowler Sophie Ecclestone has written her name into national cricket history by becoming the side's highest-ever wicket-taker at international level, reaching 338 dismissals.

She reached the landmark on the opening day of the first women's Test between England and India at Lord's. Ecclestone finished with figures of three for 68 as India were dismissed for 285.

Smriti Mandhana led India's batting with 83, and Harmanpreet Kaur added 58.

When play ended, England had moved to 21 for one after Tammy Beaumont was out for two in her final appearance for the national team.

The contest remains finely poised as the teams prepare for day two.
