Four Portland men have been charged by detectives in St Ann after police linked them to alleged thefts from a business in the parish.
The men are 25-year-old Ranaldo Thomas, also known as 'Prince'; 31-year-old Tyreke Rose, also known as 'Russell'; 27-year-old Kyle Lawton, also known as 'Reds'; and 27-year-old Andrew Bennett, also known as 'Bad Hog'. Police said all four are from addresses in Portland.
According to the Ocho Rios police, the men are accused of going to a business place on April 16 and using fake keys to enter the property. They allegedly took $393,000 from a roulette gaming box while inside.
Police further allege that the men came back to the same location on June 6 and removed another $84,000 from the gaming box. The incident was later brought to the attention of the police, who opened a detailed investigation.
Investigators said video material gathered during the probe allegedly connected the accused men to the offences. They were later arrested and charged with being part of a criminal organisation, simple larceny, conspiracy to commit simple larceny, and malicious destruction of property. Court dates are now being set.
